(GzDoom 1.7.1 and SVN) Winter's Fury- Very Fatal Error

Post by Hellstorm Archon »

For some reason, an earlier version of the Gzdoom mod Winter's Fury seemed to be working fine, of course, with an older version of Gzdoom.
However, when I try to load the latest (and final) version of this mod (both the official version of Gzdoom and its SVNs), I get a Very Fatal Error. No warning, nothing out of the ordinary, just a crash.

Here's the crash report:

Considering that Winter's Fury runs with GZDoom r1400 and older, I would surmise that this:

Chip type: Intel(R) GMA 950

is your problem right there.

Do you have the latest drivers installed?

Use the search function for Intel Graphics up on top of the page, maybe you will find a solution.
There have been numerous posts about problems with Intel Graphics in the past.

It looks like it crashes on a non-existent GL function that's expected to be there based on reported specs. If so, it's clearly a driver error.
I added checks to the functions that retrieve this info so that it can print an error message and abort instead.

Since I can't determine which one caused the crash I have to ask you to retry this with a new build and post the error you get.

Hi!

I also have a segfault which occurs only in one mod (Russian Overkill) and only on my ASUS 1011PX netbook with an Intel IGD (everything works file on the nVidia desktop). Other mods (like Brutal Doom) work OK, too.

The earliest version of GZDoom I have is v1.7.1 - SVN revision 1548M, it also fails to run RO.

Attaching the error log generated by G1.9pre-396-gd2927c3. Please let me know which information I should provide from the gdb session in order to debug this issue.

If someone tells me how to get a map file for a dev build I'll have a look.

Fixed. As expected it was a call to a non-existent GL function that only affected obsolete graphics hardware. And also as expected it came from an external code submission (the one for software lighting) - and not surprisingly it only happens when an option that's normally off was switched on (render bright objects as fullbright in fog.)

Downloaded the last build and it works fine now

I doubt it's relevant now, but force fullbright sprites on fog was off here.

Thank you, Graf!!

Thanks a lot! Latest git snapshot works for me, too.
