Weird Graphics Problem

Post by doompsx »

Hey. Have been using gzdoom on and off for 4-5 years.
Wanted to play some doom again, but i bought a new gpu since last time.
Tried to google this problem yesterday and this forum today, but cant seem to find someone with a similar problem.

It is prob a easy fix, i just need someone elses input at this time.

Went from a 4870x2 to a 7870 oc.
Got the newest version of gzdoom 1.8.2, put my doom2.wad in the folder and booted it up.
(also tried with my old version 1.5.6, same problem)

When i get to the menu this is what i see

EDIT: That picture goes not give an accurate representation of what it looks like.

Here are 3 samples of what i am talking about

I thought i had the resolution wrong, but no matter if i choose a sd or hd resolution it looks the same (my default desktop resolution of 1080P i not avaliable, strange i used to be)
Looks zoomed in, i only see like 1/3 of the screen.
Looks the same when i start up a game.

It also messes up my desktop by cropping my desktop when i return from the game.
Have to go to setting on my tv and select just scan again to fix the cropping.

I thought maybe i could fix it with catalyst control center setting.
Tried the different gpu scaling alternatives, they did not make a difference.

I run windows 7 64 bit ultimate service pack 1
q9550 @3.6
8gb ddr2 ram
maxus formula 2 motherboard
ssd disk

Ccc is 14.4 (newest) 2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1390
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.12874
Direct3D Version 9.14.10.01029

*Bump*

Anyone? Any advice is highly appreciated as i am still stuck on this problem.
Any console commands that could be helpful, this problem is so weird.
Used gzdoom for years, never had this problem before.

I got the solution from a user on reddit.
Here it is, i case someone else are stuck on my problem.

Select gzdoom.exe Properties -> Compatibility, and check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings".

Ugh...

And thanks to some bugs in Windows XP I can't reliably fix this without restricting GZDoom to Vista and above... :(
