I am 100% new here so please forgive em if I have misunderstood the bug reporting conventions.
Essentially 2.0.5 (and latest development builds) crash if I try to switch from Full Screen mode to windows mode or vice versa. Upon relaunching the desired change HAS occurred.
ALSO crashes changing resolution whether in windows or Full Screen modes. Upon Relaunch the desired change has NOT occurred.
ALL the above issues are 100% consistent having repeated my actions many times as a test.
I tested the same changes attempted above with Version 1.8.10 (and 1.8.7) and they ALL work perfectly and as expected.
I attach my one of crash reports
Hope this helps

Does it also crash without the model pack being loaded?

First, I apologize for my slow reply. Being brand new to this Forum I mistakenly assumed being the OP for this topic I was auto subscribed and the subscribe to topic is only viewable if I scroll down page.Graf Zahl wrote:Does it also crash without the model pack being loaded?

Thanks for your reply Graf Zahl. I am pleased to advise that you are on to something although without the model pack it still does not work 100% as with v1.8.10. Clearly by your suggestion you have an idea what area of GZDoom.exe is in conflict under Series 2 that is not in Series 1 and hopefully it can be relatively easily remedied.
For total clarity: In my test I reinstalled GZDoom V 2.0.5 and removed the file GZ-Models.pk3 but left the calling path in my zdoom-User.ini
Section in my zdoom-User.ini shows:
[Doom.Autoload]
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\GZ-Models.pk3
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\zdoom-dhtp-20140616.pk3
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\pk_doom_sfx_20120224.wad
In addition to the Model Pack above I also have a Heretic Model Pack in
[Heretic.Autoload]
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\heretic-gui.pk3
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\heretic-textures.pk3
Path=Hi Res Packs (3rd Party)\heretic-models.pk3
Before I describe what occurred in my tests PLEASE NOTE that WITH the heretic-models.pk3 installed that pack causes almost identical symptoms if changing windows mode/resolutions with Heretic launched as I see with Doom/Doom2 launched. Removing the heretic-models.pk3 improved the situation with Heretic launched, just as did with removal of GZ-Models.pk3 with Doom/Doom 2 launched

TEST OBSERVATIONS
-------------------------------
OK with V 2.0.5 having launched Doom2 (with GZ-Models.pk3 NOT loaded)
1) I got NO Crash Reports Windows for ANY of the following
2) ONLY switching back and forth between Full Screen Mode and Windows Mode.
a) from Windows mode to Full Screen Works perfectly MOST (but not all) times I tried after DIFFERENT relaunches of the app.
b) from Full Screen to Windows Mode resulted often in a Window and Doom cursor but black screen only in window. But at times it worked correctly (I found no obvious pattern when it would work and when not.
If I Close GZDoom app and relaunch the Window Mode HAS BEEN REMEMBERED and display is now correct.
3) Changing Resolution
a) In Full Screen Mode. Often changing Res showed a black screen which changed to desired Res a second later BUT occasionally I needed to press <Enter> whilst black screen to ge tit to move on to correct display. Sometimes <ENTER> did not work and I needed to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close App via Task Manager (or app in task bar)
b) In Windows Mode. If whilst on a (any) resolution I press <ENTER> the display, although visible, flickers constantly very fast and I have no cursor control INSIDE WINDOW (unlike in full screen mode where the Res just refreshes). I have to close app.
If I change Res sometimes it changes as expected and perfectly and sometimes it shows a black screen inside the window (can see cursor). I have to close app.
On all situations when I relaunch Doom 2 the intended change has been remembered and always displayed perfectly (Only being affected if I again try to change Res (where it may work or may go black screen window. I could find no obvious consistency with particular resolutions (sometimes the selected appeared sometimes the same Res selected would give a black window needing app closure and relaunch to apply OK.
MY Test conclusions.
1) The Model packs certainly are a cause of crashes incorrect Windows Mode/Res operations when using V2.0.5 and their removal helps a lot (no crash report windows and even when failing to display correctly after a mode or Res change I can get that desired change by closing app and relaunching as remembered.
2) The removal of the Model pack did not solve the issues completely (only improved them). Regretfully therefore, there is still something not working that works in v1.8.10 and (of course I CAN use Model pack in v1.8.10).
I wish very much to move forward with Series 2 but without 100% resolution of this issue mode/Res issue I cannot move from v1.8.10 (unless I NEVER wish to change Windows mode or Res, which I admit for me and many would not be often desired)
I hope I have described my findings as clearly and as you would wish however if you have an queries or wish me to try something else I will be very happy to help.
Hope you are able to resolve
Many thanks & Regards

I hope this is fixed now with model precaching implemented.
