500 Skyboxes at WadFather

Post by BlackFish »

I did some looking around and turns out WadFather has plenty of skyboxes. There's even a skybox with the Doom E3 theme one and a Doom E1 theme one.

Anyway check them out. There's even city skyboxes Enjay. :D

If you want one converted to doom feel free to ask me. I just have to finish my current "pack" first.

I am almost tempted to remove this link as I despise the evilness of fileplanet...

As indeed do I. Which is why I felt kind of smug downloading around 50 skyboxes this morning using a login from http://www.bugmenot.com/ :)

I've put a few into a resource WAD too. It's the 31 of the 50 or so that I dl'd and wanted to get a better idea of how they might look in a level. Some look fine, some are not so fine (the Doom1 ones I got are not that good, unfortunately) and many may not be the best for general projects. I only used the 256x256 graphics versions which are fine for me. However, the file weighs in at around 13MB. Do people want me to put it up somewhere?

Every time I try to send a largish file my e-mail seems to fail. I think it's something to do with my upload speed being relatively slow and frequent momentary drops in connection.

However, I think I've managed to get the file onto my webspace. If you do want to host it, I'd really appreciate it as I'm running out of room on that server so I couldn't keep it up for long anyway. I guess I should have put all the text files for credits into the zip but I hadn't originally planned on releasing them, so I didn't bother and I've also deleted the original files.

The skyboxes in this zip are pretty much as I got them. I've since tweaked a couple to suit my own needs - eg removed the eyes from the floor of the nuked city, or the very plain looking cars and street lamps from one of the cityscapes, or the chaos sign from another city... which didn't suit what I wanted them for. I haven't done anything so drastic to any of them to make a release/ separate package worthwhile though.

I think the only one I have used that you also did is the Titan one. Yours, of course, looks better because I think you used the higher res graphics. Your Doom1 Ep3 sky is a much better sky than the horribly stretched original graphics in the one I used. However, it is just a mountain with a red filter on it. It's a shame there isn't a really genuinely hellish looking sky in any of them (at least none that I could see). The Ep1 sky in my pack is just the normal Ep1 sky repeated 4 times with a top and bottom added. Not very original and not particularly good either. Oh well...

The file is here (assuming it uploaded OK - I hope so, it took quite a while).

[edit]Link removed because chaoscentral has the file (thanks)[/edit]

Please let me know when you have it so I can clear my webspace.

Hell, why not do all of them in batches of 10 skyboxes each?
