That crash looks like severe memory corruption. It doesn't make any sense at all.

Well, it seems like the new version (0.9.3) fixed the problem.

@Hobbs: before downloading 0.9.3, I ditched the Omega Drivers and went back to using ATI's Catalyst Drivers (5.8 ) but 0.9.2 still crashed on me when I started a new game.

I'm not sure what was causing it, but since I haven't been getting that problem since 0.9.3, this can be moved to "Closed Bugs"

Look for .GWA files. It seems you had an invalid one in your directory. Since there was another post with the same bug I got that suspicion confirmed and fixed the problem.
