Chasecam angle

Post by Paul »

Graf, is it, pretty please, possible to implement an cvar that would raise the chasecam above the player? (so the player could achieve a top-view of the battle?) as well as locking the camera angle (so it doesn't move with the player's view changing it's pitch). I'd greatly benefit from something like that, because I use models in my project, and folks who don't use it, they don't have to. I'm asking because I hope this is a rather easy thing to do.

If it's a straight top-down view you want, it could probably be rigged up easily using scripting. If the cam is directly above the player, you only really need to factor in the celing height, and you can move the cam around with the player. Now, if it's not a pure top-down view, and the camera has to follow the player around on a radius (any given x-y distance away, in lock-step with his angle) it's no longer an easy task.

I could get away with a scripted one I believe, but the angle of the chasecam for the third person view would still be a nice addition for me :)
