Lighting doesn't affect the polys of models, but models wholy. They remain ambiently lit, but change their colour and brightness when approaching dyn lights, just as if they were sprites.
Graf, any hopes for getting this implemented?

If anything, now is the time you look one step back, and familiarize yourseful with your modelling program first before even considering bringing them into GZDoom.
I mean, the current implementation isn't bad; you CAN do animated monsters, the only thing is that it may be a little clumsy and untidy. If you can stand jerky animation similar to Quake 1, then by all means, go ahead and start making models with GZDoom.
However, if you prefer to wait for the real thing, then just brush up on your modelling skills, master your modelling app and just be good at it, if anything.
