3d floors...

Post by Devan »

3d floors support in software renderer could be very good thing because it is strange when we can walk on them but can't see them...

What a fucking wonderful idea! I can't believe no one's ever thought of it before...

Impossible and will not be done. End of discussion.

@Mr. Ahnuld-I believe, with his english, he'll barely understand much. This isn't the first time this guy suggests something wacky/seemingly stupid.

Hey Graf, you should just make GZDoom hang the computer if there are 3-d floors in software mode. :P

It's not impossible to do. When EDGE used a software renderer alone, it could render 3D floors. However, it was incredibly SLOW, especially if there were many of them on screen at one time. I'm not suggesting this be done, however.

Not theoretically impossible, no; but practically useless; oh, and the software renderer needed the GL_* lumps all the time, even for maps that didn't have true 3D structures. Yuck!!!

EDGE's software renderer was still polygon based and exhibited all the problems that are commonly associated with Doom and hardware rendering.
