Moving Sectors

Post by ChupaReaper »

There's a way to make 3d floors that can move up or down and a way to make moving walls but there isn't a way to mix the two, is there? I don't think polyobjs have floors and ceilings and making a fake sector a polyobj wont work either.
Maybe this is asking for a new map format, a format that could have sectors as walls for rotating maps, but maybe this is no longer doom and this would also mean a new map editor or version of doom builder...

I can already hear Graf Zahl crying:"Noooo!!! Wahhh!!"
GZDoom should still be like DooM. See, making a new map format would screw everything up (normal DooM maps, map editors, etc.) and it would be WAY to hard to implement. No one can just whip up a new format in a minute or two, it's just too much work, and everything would come out screwy and it won't be DooM anymore.

BTW Polyobjects are only solid walls. With the limits of infinitely tall walls ;)

I thought they were, even without a new map format, there must be some way to make move 3d floors through the x and y axis. They could then replace polyobjs all together. A new map format would be neat though, but I'll be dead by the time it would be finished!

Sorry, but the engine simply doesn't allow moving linedef outside the very strict limitations of polyobjects.
