Bug with Sapphire.wad

Post by Lioyd_Irving »

In Tormentor667's Sapphire map, when I'm in the long corridor with mirrors up and down, my computer slows down dramatically. Which is weird since when they aren't displayed, everything works fine. I tried to turn mirror effect off, but it was still as slow.

Judging from your other thread your GFX card is just too weak to handle the more time consuming effects. Mirrors are very, very performance intensive so they will bring down weaker hardware dramatically.

Try lowering the value for 'r_mirror_recursions' in the console.

Tormentor put mirrors on the floor and ceiling in the same sector. Depending on how you look at it this will mean that a very complex scene has to be processed several times - and that costs performance.

In other words: He simply ignored the warning I slapped onto Sector_SetFloor/CeilingReflection.
