Extremely wacky problem in GZdoom.

Advanced OpenGL source port fork from ZDoom, picking up where ZDoomGL left off.

Extremely wacky problem in GZdoom.

Post by Lucius Octavion »

I've been using GZdoom for a really long time now, and I use it frequently too. Now all of a sudden I am getting a very weird and wacky problem with it. Textures and graphics in menues, etc are all messed up. Particle effects look "lower resolution", etc. It only happens in open gl mode. Gzdoom worked perfectly for me and now this happens. The only thing I've done to change my computer is that yesterday I got the new version of skulltag. I hope that doesn't have anything to do with this. Someone, please help me. Here's one screenshot showing what's wrong.

It can't be skulltag, since I have it too and none of those two bug up anywhere, not in software mode nor in OpenGL mode. Could you please post your hardware specs to be sure what's really wrong? :)

I have Windows XP professional

AMD Athlon 64 3800+
XFX nvidia geforce 7600 GT

My video drivers have been updated to the latest version, and they have been since January, so this is kind of weird.

What have you tried?

A clean install of GZdoom making sure there was no ini file in the directory would be a good place to start.

Try cycling through all the options in the OpenGL display options menu to see if any of them make a difference.

Try typing gl_clamping_bug 1 at the console and see if that does anything (I don't see why it should, but meh).

Well I did try a clean install and I deleted the old .ini files already, but that didn't work. None of that stuff you said works either. hmmm sigh

Seems like nobody knows what's the matter... :( Do you think my video drivers could be the cause? Kind of weird since I can run skulltag fine in opengl, and this just started happening with gzdoom.

Does the file r_opengl.dll have anything to do with this?

Have you looked at the thread Enjay mentioned? Kate's picture looks like it's displaying the exact same problem yours does. I'd suggest trying to fiddle with the various shader options and see if that does anything.

Yeah, I tried playing around with that stuff and doesn't seem to work. Odd thing though because it always used to work fine. It is exactly like Kate's problem, but I don't know how to fix this. I'm not getting any weird warping or anything like that though.

I don't think Kate ever said if the problem was fixed or not...

Somewhat off-topic but what does this do?

I don't know what it does under the hood, but if you experience the bug where textures get stretched (which, for me and for some reason, seems easiest to reproduce in Strife) it stops it happening.
