Blue Screen of Death on Second Run?

Post by Eriance »

I'm not sure if this has to do with my reformatting my computer last night, or installing AVAST. However, I've already loaded all the driver and windows updates, so it shoud be back to it's original state. Anyway when I run GZdoom the once every time i start the computer it works. However, when i quit, and run it a second time (no matter how long after the first run) it would crash my comp to the blue screen and reboot. This happens every time. Any ideas?

EDIT: Ok please move this to the appropriate place. But for some reason it started to happen on all versions of GZdoom. I'm not sure how to take a screenshot of the Bluescreen, or keep it from rebooting so quickly so I can actually read what is wrong.

I get this when I try to run GZdoom twice without a reboot:

Code: Select all

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you have seen ths stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.

Check to make sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changig video adapters.

Check with the hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safemode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Some crash deep inside the operating system. Most likely driver related considering that you previously reported other stability issues.

Problem fixed. Rolled back to the Factory state graphics driver and the bug was gone. Not sure if it will cause other problems, though. Nothing nothing seems to be going wrong yet.

Out of curiosity, what card do you have and what driver was causing problems?

I would use the new computer, with the 1-gig Nvidia 9800 gt. But it's too inconvenient to only edit the stuff on the old comp, then take it to the new comp just to test it. :(
