No map under pressed TAB key showed

There is only grey backround and something in the center of the screen, but no lines of the current map.
Sometimes I get lost in large maps, so I need to see map.

What's your graphics hardware. This sounds like drawing lines does not work.

is there such a setting as drawing lines ?

It's probably a hardware/driver issue. It looks like the card is not able to draw lines. Does PrBoom's GL renderer work for you?

I don't have any even remotely old hardware to test this so I can't do much about it.
