After ~1:16 minutes after warping to a map (from the console or the menu), GZDoom displays the startup window for half a second, with random (prefferably black) background. It then starts doing this approximately each minute. There are no extra messages in the console. This weird glitch doesn't show up if VSync is enabled (though there is some input lag with it).
I have an ASUS N53SV laptop with two GPUs: Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce 540M GT, the glitch only appears if I run GZDoom with the NVIDIA GPU. NVIDIA driver version is 270.61, OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks, Player701.

Could you post us some pictures presenting this glitch?

Does it still happen with r2117?
(For info, I've tried with r2115 and r2117 and not been able to reproduce this.)

Re: [r1215] Strange display glitch
Well, I have tested the latest revision and the bug is still there. I think it is system-specific, maybe somehow related to the NVIDIA Optimus technology implemented in my laptop. I also once thought the bug was introduced in a recent revision, but it is there even in the official 1.5.6 release (r1104).
It is interesting that when I press PrintScreen in game and then paste the view to any graphics editor (or viewer), I can always see the startup window. But in the game, it only shows up with a ~1 minute interval.
I have uploaded a screenshot, taken at a random game moment when the glitch wasn't there. But I can always see the picture if I press PrintScreen and then paste. Note that GZDoom doesn't show this thing with its built-in print screen function. Plus, the screenshots look distorted because of the 1366x768 resolution (There was a thread on ZDoom forums related to this. I guess it is still not fixed. It's GZDoom's fault, not my resolution's, because EVERY OTHER program takes the screenshots correctly. Sorry for the off-topic).
P.S. Sorry for bad English if any.

The screenshot issue is not actually exclusive to GZdoom. IdTech4 (Doom3, PREY, etc) all suffer the exact same issue. I would assume it's how OpenGL does screenshots.Player701 wrote:Plus, the screenshots look distorted because of the 1366x768 resolution (There was a thread on ZDoom forums related to this. As for the half second blanking issue, I seem to be getting this as well. Although it's not quite every minute, and it goes too fast for me to 'show' the issue (although still certainly noticeable).
Using a NVIDIA GT 330M (1GB dedicated + 1GB shared), driver version 270.61.

Strange, I thought id Tech 4 games use Direct3D, not OpenGL... However, is there any progress on investigating this bug?
Edit: Updated the NVIDIA driver to 275.33 and the bug is still there. So, it's not a video driver issue.

I don't get this. Since it seems to be exclusive to your system there's not a good chance to get this fixed.

Re: [r1215] Strange display glitch
Sorry for not posting here for a long time, I've been away from home and didn't have access to a good Internet connection. Just logged in and saw your post. I also updated GZDoom yesterday, and decided to test it today. With r1229 I no longer get this glitch. Although the game seems to freeze sometimes for less than a second, I think this is not related: may be just because I have some other applications running in the background, something else or just paranoia. (well, what things may hide behind the crates of E2M2, which I've been using for testing so far...)Graf Zahl wrote:I don't get this. Anyway, for me this is fixed now. Thanks.
