Translucent Hud Messages

Post by Sir_Alien »

I.e. Something like HUDMSG_TRANSLUCENT, or have an extra argument for HUDMSG_FADEINOUT that will only fade the message in/out to a certain percent.

Please.

This is certainly a feature I would have found useful a number of times already.

I assume this would apply here also

Excuse the bump, I'm trying to avoid a duplicate thread.
In a similarly titled thread by the same author over at forum.zdoom.org, Graf Zahl wrote:Sure it is possible. It's just a minor thing.
Graf, if your motives for dismissing this idea were similar to Justin's estimation, would your attitude be any different these days? At the risk of sounding like a complete fool, it seems that the SVN repository would have put an end to any of the above sentiment?

Also, when I first suggested this at ZDoom, your time was primarily occupied with implementing model support, and this feature suggestion necessarily took a back seat. Perhaps now might be a better time to bring it up..?

Finally, I understand that this is already possible using translucent pngs, but unfortunately this method is extremely cumbersome and things like fonts become a chore to replace, when a simple function / flag would serve much better.

And hey, Enjay likes it! ;)

I'd like this feature too. The transparent PNG solution just isn't flexible enough (not to mention a pain to get the transparency value correct because of lack of proper tools). On top of that, you can't have dynamic transparency, which is another nice thing to have.

Would it be possible to get a answer one way or the other?

Sorry, but it's a little confusing to be told this is a simple feature to implement and that would benefit a number of editors and then have it closed / dismissed without a reason...
