Blended flat/texture animations

Post by Enjay »

Something I wouldn't mind seeing at some point in GZdoom is blended animations like the ones that were present in Timmie's ZDoomGL.

As I recall, they effectively faded one frame of an animated flat/texture into the next one rather than the usual sudden change from on frame to the next. It didn't look good for all animations but, IMO, it really suited some. So, if you consider this to be a suitable addition, I think that it would be best if it could be allocated to individual animations in ANIMDEFS rather than being the all-or-nothing approach seen in ZdoomGL.

Maybe. This requires quite extensive restructuring in the texture code and the extensive use of shaders that's already there won't make this easier either.

No worries. I know that it doesn't really add much in the way of functionality. It would just be a "nice to have" at some point. So thanks for considering it. :)

Yeah, and I'd still be happy to have this. It makes some animations just look better.
