Someone recommended that I repost this topic here from Zdoom.
I've just installed GZDoom to see what all the buzz is about. To be on the safe side, I back up my .ini files created by Zdoom and move them to another folder (hey, I can reset my controller config later). Upon clicking on the GZDoom icon, though, I get a large black box sitting in the upper-right corner of my screen. It continues to sit there.
OK.
So, I alt-f4 out of that, and try again. To my surprise, Doom shows up a moment later - in greens and purples, and there seems to be two of them in the upper half of the screen - one on the left, one on the right. Figuring this to be a video problem, I go to "video settings" and play around with what I find there, to increasingly odd results. Changing the renderer to anything but "OpenGL" freezes the program entirely.
Also, it seems my default screen settings have been changed, as well - the brightness of the screen is set very high and everything looks washed-out. I suspect that OpenGL rendering is causing my computer to have a panic attack.
I'm using a "RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X" graphics card. Any ideas what could be wrong?
GZDoom doesn't like my computer :(
