r505 reflective floor problems.

Post by Enjay »

This affects every reflective floor that I have checked but I know you have a copy of my Burghead mod so this is from map113 at approximately coords 2200, 300. These screenshots are from the slightly updated version in the archives (updated back in January/February I think). In each case, the shot is what r505 looks like followed by what it should look like.

changes as you move around the reflective surface

The lower side texture seems to be repeated above the table surface

A reflection in the shiny surface appears to have a z-fighting-like effect (just visible below the cacoward model).

Just in case

I have to admit that I'm puzzled about this glitch. Apparently the clipping plane I try to set here does not work. I'm quite sure that this same code was properly working on older drivers/hardware.

Sadly, the information about this feature is rather slim so I can't even confirm if the values I set are correct...

If it helps at all, r471 does not show the problem but r478 does. These are the only builds from that time that I still have handy but I'm re-downloading r473 and r475 to check them.

[edit] OK neither 473 nor 475 show this effect so it appeared after 475 and is present in 478. [/edit]

Here's what I found out:

If I switch shaders off it looks correct
If I switch shaders on it's totally broken

This looks like a driver bug.

And since it's the second thread about this issue I'm closing it.
