Another topic on here stated true-color player sprites aren't rendered correctly or something. They get shifted over to the game's palette.

That is the bug to discuss. Graf Zahl claims he cannot solve it due to color translation. I think you missed the point. This should probably be more of a feature request than anything.
If you reread what Graf wrote, you cannot make that assumption. It would have to be determined somehow (new property) or something that would allow proper compatibility.
