[G1.9pre-679 - June 19 dev build] Bug : INHERITACTORPITCH

Post by Galaxy_Stranger »

The dev build file: gzdoom-G1.9pre-679-g7374cd3.7z
Example mod: http://robodoom.net/star_wars_alpha_1_BUG.pk3

INHERITACTORPITCH seems to be opposed when player is morphed.

Normally, when the player pulls back on the mouse, the player's view looks DOWN. When the player pushes forward on the mouse, the player's view looks UP.

When I morph the player, this doesn't change, but the model for the vehicle does the opposite - when the player looks down, the plane points up. When the player looks up, the plane points down.

To reproduce:
  • Run map01
  • Walk up to a vehicle
  • "Use" the vehicle
  • Observe the vehicle in the mirrored wall
  • Pull back and forward on the mouse - the model will display the opposite behavior.

Models used for regular decorate actors, (such as projectiles), display correctly. The issue as-posted is for a decorate actor the player has morphed into.

As of GZDoom 1.5.06 - INHERITACTORPITCH worked correctly for "morphed" actors. 1.6 onward - including 2.1.pre-342-g020b02e - does not display "morphed" actor models properly.

I have to say: Congratulations for completely misanalyzing the problem. Which is why I couldn't get down to it. Every time I checked this I looked for the wrong thing. Morphing or even being attached to a player is completely irrelevant here.

INHERITACTORPITCH was inverted. Period. The only reason it didn't show for 'other' things is because they do not have a pitch! They only use PITCHFORMOMENTUM which was correct.

Don't be pissed at me because I specifically stated it was an issue concerning INHERITACTORPITCH and it took you almost two years to look at INHERITACTORPITCH. I didn't "misanylize" anything. I was just being as descriptive as I could be. The only time I could make it happen was when morphing was involved. I never said that morphing was the problem. I simply found a use-case that produced the issue.

Your description was enough to make me look in the wrong place. It never occured to me that it was wrong entirely until I got another example that proved it beyond a doubt.

Stop it. This isn't the place for your senseless chest thumping over who is right.

People misinterpret things all the time, and people miscommunicate things all the time, and there's no need to have a snarky attitude about it. Neither of you are wrong, neither of you are right, people just have different ways of communicating things and it's the subject of your opinion and nothing more.
